Via the 'Connection' tab you can specify the type of internet connection you want to use with WebUp. There are 3 different types of connection available; Dial-Up Connection, for modems, Proxy (LAN) for networked internet connections, and IE Default.

It is recommended that you try the IE Default setting first as this will take you internet connection settings from Internet Explorer.

Dial-Up Connection - By selecting the Dial-Up Connection type you will be presented with a drop down list of the internet connections available on your computer, simply select the one you would like WebUp to use, you can also specify if WebUp should disconnect the modem when it has finished checking your web site(s).

Proxy (LAN) - With this option you will need to enter the IP Address and Port number for your internet connection, you may need to consult your network administrator for this information.

IE Default - WebUp will attempt to use the settings you have in Internet Explorer to check your web site(s)

WebUp - Getting Email Notifications

WebUp allows you to send email notifications to designated email addresses when errors occur. Email notification is possible even if you don't have an email address yourself. The WebUp program will use the WebUp web site server to send the email notifications, or you can use a POP3/SMTP email server.
• To use the email notification feature, click the 'Notification' tab on the WebUp interface and click the 'Configure' button to open the WebUp Email Configuration palette.
• Firstly you will need to select the type of email server you wish to use, None - for no emails, WebUp Emailer for Web based emailing, or, POP3 Emailer - to use a POP3 email account.
• If you have selected POP3 emailing you will need to enter the SMTP server address in the server field. Username and Password settings are taken from your system defaults. If you are connecting through a proxy server you will need to enter either the IP Address or the Server name in the text box.
• WebUp allows a global email address for all notification and up to 2 additional email addresses for other support persons. For Example, you may want WebUp to email yourself, your client and your web administrator.
WebUp will send one email (per address) per failed web site per failing, i.e. when a web site fails an email is sent to the email address specified, if another check detects that the web site is still off-line no email is sent, however if the web site becomes available again and then fails an email will be sent to mark the sporadic functionality of the site. Also, if you have selected verification emails from the options an email is sent when a site is on-line after a failing.

NOTE: Email notification is NOT available in the unregistered version of WebUp

WebUp - Status Graphs

As more and more web site checks are performed WebUp will build a percentage profile of each of the sites, this will allow you to verify the percentage of checks that the web site was unavailable for.

There are two types of status chart currently available and they can be accessed by clicking there respective buttons on the WebUp interface:

Single site data - allows you to quickly check the status of a single web site, simply select the site from the drop down list and the graph will reflect the data pertaining to that site.

HTML Report - WebUp will generate a HTML report page displaying status data for all of the sites you are currently checking, the page is marked with a date of creation and a note on the interval frequency. This option is ideal for printing daily or even monthly reports on your web sites. Internet Explorer is recommended for the HTML reports.
