send the email notifications, or you can use a POP3/SMTP email server.
To use the email notification feature, click the 'Notification' tab on the
WebUp interface and click the 'Configure' button to open the WebUp Email Configuration
palette. Firstly you will need to select the type of email server you
wish to use, None - for no emails, WebUp Emailer for Web based emailing, or,
POP3 Emailer - to use a POP3 email account. If you have selected POP3
emailing you will need to enter the SMTP server address in the server field.
Username and Password settings are taken from your system defaults. If you
are connecting through a proxy server you will need to enter either the IP
Address or the Server name in the text box.
WebUp allows a global email address for all notification and up to
2 additional email addresses for other support persons. For Example, you may
want WebUp to email yourself, your client and your web administrator.
WebUp will send one email (per address) per failed web site per failing, i.e.
when a web site fails an email is sent to the email address specified, if
another check detects that the web site is still off-line no email is sent,
however if the web site becomes available again and then fails an email will
be sent to mark the sporadic functionality of the site. Also, if you have
selected verification emails from the options an email is sent when a site
is on-line after a failing.
